MISSION STATEMENT
We, the Parish Community of Immaculate Conception, in order to reaffirm the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church, do hereby commit our energies to be a sign of Christ’s love and to express this love through our word, worship, service, and building of community.
With faith in our Church and confidence in the future, through our love and understanding, we desire to act in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, individually and together as a parish community. In this way, we will reinforce our spiritual commitment to God and renew our lives.
HISTORY
Located in the mountainous northwest corner of New Jersey’s Bergen County, Immaculate Conception is the most rural of all the parishes in the Newark Archdiocese. The Mahwah parish was first established in 1928 as an adjunct of Immaculate Conception Seminary and was officially incorporated in 1930. The present Church was built on five acres of what had formerly been seminary property on the corner of Darlington Avenue and Ramapo Valley Road. The first mass was celebrated in 1932. Since then, Immaculate Conception Church has grown in many ways, reflecting the changing face of the times while maintaining its commitment to faith and family.
